I guess it's time for an icon dump, these are the icons I've made during March and April. After my previous lighting-focused simpler set, I wanted to go to a style that is very bold with textures, and especially get some more practise using painty and grungy textures. I also wanted to go for extra saturated colors and high contrast. I have no idea where I'm going next, but probably more muted!
I know icon dumps are less interesting than brand new challenge entries, which is why I haaate making icon dumps and wish I could at least pair them with an entry of some sort, but like half of these haven't actually been posted anywhere before, I make a lot of icons outside of challenges for a personal project (ask about that if you want some very bad ideas xD). Hope you'll find something to like - please let me know what you think, and feel free to use any you want! Hover for fandom :)

I've probably already told you how much I love most of these, as for the rest I love the rainbow!Rose icon, it's so beautiful! <3 Great composition in #2, I absolutely loved that show back in the day and I'm big fan of Russell Tovey since then (he has the cutest ears ever!!). The coloring in 3 is gorgeous, as is the text work and composition in #5. The color combination in #6 is one of my favourites and the shadows/lighting in the icon is great. The whole LOST set for 7days is amazing and although I've never watched Survivor these aussie guys are pretty hot :D
Totally get you on the icon dumps part, I've been trying to combine them with some sets for other challenges, but there are not many of them right now. And now of course I have to ask about the personal project, because I need some bad ideas myself :D

Ok, so here's my totally random project, it's a bit complicated but I hope it makes sense. It's a character focused rewatch/iconing project. Basically I have a list of 100 characters and ships (which don't have to be romantic, just any interesting relationship) that I like the most out of any shows. I then use some sort of method to pick one or multiple of these subjects at a time (usually one, but for a fixed-size set I like to pick them all at once). This selection method could be a random number generator, a game (I developed a board game that I sometimes play with
Anyway, now that I have my subject, I need to rewatch the first episode (or movie) that has this character in it and that I haven't yet rewatched for this project. If it's a ship, I rewatch the first episode that has them both. I write a review of this episode (mostly to keep track of which episodes I've rewatched, but it's also fun to score the episodes and keep a running list of episodes I've liked the most, I also give plus and minus points to characters I enjoyed or disliked in that episode to keep track of the best characters :D), and after that I icon my subject from that episode. That's pretty much it, there's no schedule and I'm definitely not hoarding all these icons to post at once cause idek when this will end, I've been posting them all along since November when I started this.
So far I've iconned and rewatched 96 episodes/movies. Of course at some point I'll have rewatched all episodes that have a character, that's when the character is removed from the list and replaced with someone new. It's a really fun way to both rewatch my favorite shows and select subjects for challenges, which has always been difficult for me, but it also means that most of the icons I make are not for challenges cause it's a bit difficult sometimes to pair random subjects with challenges that have any subject-specific themes. I still want to keep doing it this way, because tbh I'm at a point where I'm more interested in the rewatching part, and the iconing part is kind of just a fun extra. Anyway that's it, sorry for the long ramble but I don't know how to explain this mess more briefly xD tl;dr I'm a giant nerd.

Actually it's weird how similar and yet so different my iconing project is :D I started with 70 characters/ships and the goal is to make one icon of each for a total of 70 that will be posted at once. And although I don't have the rewatch part, I always end up rewatching some episodes (or sometimes seasons) which really slows my progression and now I'm little behind :/ It doesn't help that the first few icons ended up with text and I decided to go all in and make all 70 text icons :D
Random number generators are great, it always helps when I'm wondering what/who to icon and lately it's been more fun to make icons outside of challenges, there's no pressure :D

I love this style, the most complex compositions are the ones that amaze me more and more, I don't know how you can achieve similar results, as in 2, 11 and 19. I also love 21 (incredible coloring), and painting in 39. However, they are all masterpieces for me XD!

they're so vibrant and yet bright it's a pleasure to look at. and also I mean the way you use those grungy looking textures it's incredible! I'm snagging lots of these!

I love the crops on 23 and 24 so much. I also really like how you worked with red and blue and black on 30, I would have never tought about this color combination!
And I think you did really amazing with grungy texutures :D
So basically everything here is stunning as always!

I won't comment your compositions because there is nothing more that I can say: they're simply perfect!
My favourites are 2, 6, 7, 8, 10, all the Lost ones, 26, 33 and 36!

The personal project is this massive rewatch/icon project that I described in more detail in this comment. Basically it's a system where I need to rewatch and icon episodes featuring selected characters or ships. I'm trying to think of ways to make this system work within challenges, cause it's rarely compatible with anything, which makes me unfortunately seem a lot less active than I actually am.

THE COLORS. THE GRUNGEY TEXTURES. THE FLAWLESS COMPOSITION.
It's all fantastic and I'm sure my comments get repetitive. I just love your vibrant colors. It's not easy to make them look "nice" and not just exaggerated. They almost look natural because of how you just potentiate the original colors (or what seems to be the original colors). This style (vibrant + grunge) works well and it does fit your style as well.
How do you icon, really? You make complex compositions look simple. You choose the right textures for everything and... gosh, these are just so good. I know what you mean about icon dumps (I only post icon dumps these days, it seems) but I wouldn't be able to tell this is one because of how cohesive they are. I bow down to you, as usual ♥
Your icons make me wanna rewatch Lost from the beginning. It's been so, so long and I loved that show.no subject
LOST definitely still holds up super well and is to this day my favorite show. Rewatching it takes a ton of time, but if you're inspired to start a rewatch at some point, I'd definitely recommend the Down the Hatch podcast to go along with it - it's a LOST rewatch series that posts one episode per week, that's what got me into rewatching it, they're getting close to the end of S2 at the moment. (You might even be familiar with the RHAP network from their Survivor coverage)

I'd definitely be interested in a new community! I wish monthlyinspo was more regular. I hope it's not dead-dead :(((( Dreamwidth has a bunch of good ones but I seldom remember to check that flist. (I do have to post a set for a community there, now that I think about it.)
Ohhh I'm definitely familiar with RHAP. When I could watch Survivor, I listened to most of their podcasts. They're a joy. I bet Wigler is a great host because I loved his sense of humor and how knowledgeable he was. If I ever get the time, I'll binge it again because I remember it fondly. (I've probably forgotten a lot of the surprises but I bet knowing the ~~endgame makes some things click even better.) Thanks for the rec ♥
