This is my set for round 14 at monthlyinspo! The theme was Film Noir, so I decided to create my first and probably only fully b&w 20in20 set ever. I'm so used to relying on vibrant colors that I wanted to see if my icons are any good without them. There are some other elements here that were also inspired by the theme but I don't think I've ever seen a noir film, so I might be way off with my take on it, but this is where my inspiration went from the challenge post :>

Since this is so different for me, I'd really appreaciate any feedback! I included the colored alts for the ones that have them (since some of these started as color icons), and I'd be very interested in hearing which ones look better in b&w and which do you like more in color?
I also included a LOT of extras, cause I made a ton and had a hard time choosing which ones to select for the actual set. I hope you can take a look at those as well and tell me if I left out something I should have selected!

to be completely honest i always find myself speechless when i look at your icons!
they're just. so good. you are so skilled i am in awe – every single icon is a work of art [indiana jones' voice] it belongs in a museum. ♥
i'm sorry this comment will be rather long but i need to drop a line for EVERY piece because i'm incapable of choosing favourites :o so here we go!
1. the text placement is super clever, you hid his eyes and made the result even more mysterious
2. magnificent composition, the blending is exceptional and i love how each level is very well balanced in tones, because overall it creates a super nice contrast
3. HONESTLY. this sort of merging of two caps is one of the most difficult techniques e v e r and you manage to make it look effortlessly cool :D
4. the shadowing on clara's face WOW A+ INCREDIBLE
5. me, obsessed with silhouettes + blendings: i'm fine, like, this is very pretty [sobbing]
6. yes dorian!!!!!! i love you for always including him whenever you can &heart; the blocking is gorgeous and the b&w doesn't lose depth in comparison with the coloured version (needless to say i adore both versions)
7. i'm throwing my computer out of the window, this is a masterpiece BYE (your text placement here is so so so so beautiful and creative)
8. ahhhhh super close up!!! YES PLEASE AND THANKS! it's so emotional and delicate and also positively creepy in a way? it tells a story, you perfectly captured the noir vibe in such a simple way wow!! hashtag BLESS

10. is this a movie poster? this should be a movie poster, the composition is exceptional and i love the way you used lights and shadows and the b&w tone is flawless
11. the tiny v big text opposition is on point, it also matches the show you chose!
12. excellent cropping and text placement! it's a fun icon and again the b&w doesn't sacrifice the depth in opposition with the coloured version
