monthlyinspo! The round was SUPER difficult for me, because the theme was to icon things we enjoyed in 2019 or are looking forward to in 2020. I took this to mean that only new movies/shows would be acceptable and not the same old shows (LOST, DW etc) I've still been rewatching and loving in 2019, so I had to really think hard - was there anything at all that was new that I liked in 2019? The 2020 portion wouldn't do because literally the only things I'm looking forward to are the new all star seasons of US and Australian Survivor, and I like to make random icons of these sometimes but definitely not a full set cause that requires taking my own caps. So I started looking at music, which is also difficult cause I listen to random weird music (my favorite genres are catchy folk, dark cabaret, and 90s eurodance) and not so much anything contemporary that anyone would recognize. In the end I found the one exception, which is Lana Del Rey. I love her music, her vocals and lyrics are so atmospheric and really tell a story. I iconned my ten favorite songs from her 2019 album, Norman Fucking Rockwell!. I couldn't find any caps from any videos so I chose to make this really hard and icon her photoshoots and other images combined with lyrics.I put so much into these, I really hope you'll like some of these, and if not, there's also a lot of random icons in the alts/extras (some for challenges, most made just for fun). I know that this post is a bit much, I promise there will be more even simple/complex ratio in the next post, but for this set I just wanted to go crazy. Anyway, enough rambling! Okay, so great choice for choosing Lana del Rey! She's absolutely beautiful and I love her music. The color combinations are amazing, I love the deep blues in #1 and the way you positioned Lana on the text is so creative. #2 is another one of my favourites, so many different colors and yet they compliment each other very well, great use of fonts too. #4 is all kinds of amazing, you always make b&w on color to look great (yep, #6 too). #7 is my absolute favourite from the set - the crop, the placement of the text and the monochrome-ish coloring are perfect. Great typography on #8, I'm so jealous how you can make so many fonts work together, I pretty much stick with two and that's it :D and I also like the vintage look. #10 - cyan & yellow are such iconic color combination, always love the way it looks and here it's not an exception!
From the misc icons I really love the Raven icon (as I've said previously). The Buffy icon is great - the unnatural coloring, the text, that border texture (omg, I used to overuse it A LOT :D). It's always nice to see Regina icon, it is soo pretty, that fandom produced so many great icons ♥ The quote in #25 is so funny and overall the composition is great! Also love the painted look in the Sherlock icon!
p.s. maybe we should make S02 of the random character project to help with the new fandoms struggle? :D

Oh, I do wish I still had the time for some awesome project like the random character project was! It was so much fun, I'm glad you reminded me of it, and I even found one of my current favorites (Free!) from it. I was finishing my degree at the time, with only a couple of courses left, so I had a ton of time just to sit around and watch random stuff. Now that I work full days it's just impossible to find the time, and tbh the lack of new fandoms isn't a problem for me other than in this specific type of challenge. I'm happy just watching the things I know I love, I feel like the shows that are popular now are super not for me, I feel like everything new seems so fast-paced. I wish there was another truly epic, emotional, slow-moving show like LOST, which still remains my favorite, but I seriously doubt it. But perhaps there's some other type of icon project that we could do without the watching component in it, I don't know, I'll think about it :)

The 2nd one with the Vogue cover is spectacular and I love the monochromatic color on 7! From the alts my favs are 1, 3, 19, 20, 22, 30, 32 and 33. Beautiful set!

Your text compositions are always so on point, I'm speechless! My favourites are 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9!
I also LOVE 17, 18 (those colours!), 21, 24 and 33 (I'll forever be a fan of your boxed compositions) from the alts/misc set!

the coloring on all of these is just absolutely GORGEOUS! and i'm so jealous of your use of text (i can't do text for the life of me)!

The overall feel of these icons is just stunning. The text use in all of them is to die for. I especially like the moody feel on 4, I think it fits the song perfectly. Also, California... it's my fav song of the album and it's probably my fav icon of the set, too. The amount of brightness is perfect, and again, the text use is so well done. The Greatest also has a especial place for me and the blues and gritty texture complements so well the close crop.
Shoutout to the magnificence of 8, love the vintage feeling.
As for the alts, I especially like 14 (I'll automatially love everything Buffy you do), 15, 19 and 20 (wow at the composition)!

The pretty colors! The compositions! The text work! The... everything! I don't know what to say that I haven't said already.
The monthlyinspo set is simply stunning - it's so original and creative <3 The text work is just amazing as is your range of colors.
And the misc... hee. I loved the Ron icons since I first saw it but I am also quite fond of the different techniques you used, particularly the blends (and all the different colors for every layer! they're not jarring like they would if they were mine! they are amazing!). 20 is simply... whoa. 33 has some great blocking. 15 is just gorgeous and so is 16. 30 is so "simple" yet so amazing and complex? The combo of subject + text in 1 and 10?? Everything is just so stunning. ♥

My favorite is 15 (I think, I love pretty much all icons in this post). The composition and use of text is amazing, but I also love the lighting. It gives the icon a little bit of an "old school" vibe which I love, too :D

I love the way you work with dual color codes and use blocking and texting to add layers to it. Also the blends are great in the misc. set.

Yeah, for now I seem to make a lot of icons, that could change any moment, I never know with my muse. I'm very much an all or nothing person when it comes to icons (and everything) - I either make them all the time, or not at all. I do hope this activity streak continues for a bit longer, cause I'm having a lot fun :)
