20 multifandom icons for 20muses round 9

Fandoms:
Atonement (2007) [4]

Omg WHY did I try to do two challenges in one month?? This was INSANE, but I gotta say the challenge post at

20muses really spoke to me! The inspiration was classic literature and the technical and interpretative themes in the post gave me the spark to try to make some more muted, grungy icons. I used hard mode. I also tried to match the palettes cause they were all super pretty. I loved each of the literary inspirations, so I made 4 icons per book and used the same fandom for each mini set. Having just rewatched some of my favorite movies for my previous set, I wanted to use the most fitting ones for these. Also randomly used Sherlock for Frankenstein cause why not :)

Everyone's sets for this round have been freaking impressive so I don't know if my last minute entry can add anything to that, but I hope you find something to like! I'm super behind on my commenting and that's because of how busy this damn set kept me for these past couple of weeks but I'll make sure to fully appreciate everyone's hard work for this challenge. I'm just extra happy that the comm is back.

As always, your use of text is spectaular *_*
I really love the coloring and the compositions in the first set!
The creativity in 6 is so cool! Love the simple and grungy coloring in 8.
And also the coloring in 19-20 is super nice, love the combination of vibrant colors and the muted tones!

They are all so good though!

Like naginis said, they're all so good! My personal preference goes to the Moonrise Kingdom and Sherlock rows, plus 10, 13, 14, 17 and 19, but they're all amazing. <3

Thanks so much for the lovely comment!! Those are pretty much my own faves too. I really wanted to make more for the Moonrise Kingdom/Alice set but it's very hard for me to resist a neat even icon theme division :)

(Though now I don't feel as good about my set as I did earlier, but that was to be expected ;))

LOL this is so funny to me cause I literally thought while coding this post that I shouldn't have looked at yours before posting mine. I mean all the sets have been great so it's not like the bar was low (is it ever anywhere? I feel like everyone is just SO GOOD), but yours is just incredible in every way and I can't wait to get to it in my commenting round. Which admittedly might take a while cause there's monthlyinspo too... again, why did I think it was a good idea to do both?? Please let both of these comms have bad challenges for next month so I can just focus on our battle entirely!

Haha, I very nearly posted mine in neat rows of 4 like you did but they didn't look as good arranged that way. Your mini sets are so much more cohesive though, so they look amazing!

Aaaaah I'm so glad you like my set, thank you! Don't worry about leaving me a comment, this bit of feedback is more than enough :) I agree that everyone is making awesome stuff atm, I found myself saving so many icons for my last praise post.

Please let both of these comms have bad challenges for next month so I can just focus on our battle entirely!
I had the exact same thought a couple of days ago! :P If the 20 muses theme is as good as this one, I'll go for it, but I already have a lot of March icons to post, so that could make a nice April icon dump while I focus on our battle. I'm excited but nervous, lol.

The use of textures is incredible, I can't imagine how you managed to adapt the cuts to the context, the construction, the coloring, everything is simply sublime ...

Your posts are always so depressing (in a good way) because I know I could never (and that's okay, haha). I've been so uninspired this month/year that seeing you churn out greatness (twice in a month!) makes me feel so inadequate, haha. You're just on a whole other level and I can't wait to see what you do next <3 Your posts are such an inspiration to me, really.

The compositions and the coloring (and the texture and text work) is impeccable, truly. The 20muses post was so great and I love seeing what inspired you from those works and how you translated it into your own icons :) Everything about 1, 3, 6, 16 takes my breath away but I like the mutedly vibrant coloring in the last two, or the grunge-y feel in the others. You are so good that I can't say much of value other than I truly love this post a lot! All 20 icons ♥

Stunning set ! Sigh , can I ever ! That grungey feel looks amazing .
Loved icons 5, 6, 7 in Sherlock set , great composition in 6, 7 and crop is on point in 5. Also, the crop on 17 <3
Wonderful blocking in 19, so vivid.
But what stole my heart is the Dorian Gray set . Coloring and composition is to die for.

The grungy look of these is amazing! The compositions are fantastic, especially on 1, 2, 9, 13 and 14. I love the pastel colors of the first row and the muted coloring of 8 :D

Thank you so much! Grunge is so hard for me cause it's super easy to overdo it and usually that's exactly what happens when I try to make grungy icons, so I'm super pleased that you liked that aspect of them :)

Amazing set! Your use of text in 9, 12, 15, and 16 really adds to the overall composition in those. I think those are my favorites but I love 2, 6, 7, and 19 too. :)

Aw, thank you so much!! :) Keeping the sets to one fandom was a practical solution - I rewatched each of the subjects (well one episode for Sherlock), and didn't want to have to look for all different kinds of ideas while watching, it was so much easier to look at each film/episode with a specific mindset. I'm super happy you think it was a good choice!

I love the grungy pastel look in these. Such a beautiful combination! I especially like the Alice ones - easy to recognize by their coloring. :D Sherlock is a great fit for Frankenstein. The composition in 9 is awesome! I really like it in 13, 14, and 16, too. 19 and 20 both have an incredible Miserables vibe. The coloring is very 19th century military. :D
