30 multifandom icons: 10in30 and technique20in20 entries

Two challenge entries in the same post this time!

first, [livejournal.com profile] 10in30 Round 1! I claimed my current OTP: Rin Matsuoka / Haruka Nanase, aka rinharu, from Free!. I seriously love these two together and that's why I made them as shippy as I could, that's why all the text, there were SO many good quotes both from the series itself and from the people working on Free! so that's what I mainly drew inspiration from.
This is my first full set of an animated subject; I've made the occasional anime icon here and there but they've been pretty lazy so here I wanted to really try and see what I can do with these caps. Which I still need to practise more and I did have a few technical problems but I'm surprised at how much I actually like the end results. But that might just be because anything with this ship is gold to me lol. OK I'LL SHUT UP about rh for now :) here's the set, hope you like them! ♥

close crops:

1 - This scene was a must, Rin hugging Haru super tight and crying cause he's happy to be back together with Haru (and the others) and they just had an amazing experience together and it's just super fluffy and amazing. ♥
2 - This is an incredibly flirty quote from Rin to Haru. I can't even with these two. I wanted to have one icon here about their competitive relationship and the UST they clearly have because of it. That's not ALL there is to their relationship by any means, unlike a lot of anti-rinharu folks seem to think. This is not even the main thing about them imo, but it's still pretty awesome and keeps them both moving forward. Unfortunately nobody can probably find any use for this icon, cause whoever you comment to with this icon will think you're flirting :p
3 - Accoring to the director, their relationship is the core axis of the show, so that's what I wanted to portray here.
4 - I felt a strange need to include this entire quote by Haru's voice actor because it's very relevant to my interests, haha. That's a lot of text and the result might look like crap but I'm soooo happy that I managed to somehow cram it in cause it's that important :3
5 - this is a lazy icon, I just chose some cap of them and made it colorful, the crop is a bit odd and obscure, in case you can't tell what's going on it's Haru grabbing Rin's arm in their intense fence scene, but yeah no special meaning to this one.

far crops:
1 - What you're seeing here is the good old 'only one bed' trope, so... there's that. Rin chooses this particular moment to talk about his fond feelings for Haru and this is one of the things he says but I love everything else from this scene too. I had to use this scene, it's one of their best for sure.
2 - I went with the future theme cause one thing I love about this ship is that in s2 they found that they have the same dream and the same future of professional swimming. they inspire each other towards that goal, and Rin helped Haru find his dream when he was at his lowest. These two are perfect for each other.
3 - This one was inspired by the list of things that Haru reacts to, according to his voice actor: water, swimming, mackerel, and "things relating to Matsuoka Rin" ;)
4 - Now this one is inspired by this lovely quote by Rin's voice actor: '[Haruka and Rin] just feel like the ‘destined pair’ for one another'. It made a nicely short text for a change so I had to use it besides I think he's 1000% on point there, the show even gives us the 'red string of fate'.
5 - In this one I wanted to showcase how utterly romantic the visuals relating to this pair are. there's a cherry blossom three symbolizing their special bond, and when they think of each other the scene sometimes gets blurry and bright and we see cherry blossom petals flying everywhere. Like, make of that what you will but I'm gonna say they're in love alright. the quote is there mostly as a decoration but it reads 'it's my turn to show you a sight you've never seen before' :)

now consider all this and tell me how some people don't see rinharu????????? :o

Next, my set for [livejournal.com profile] technique20in20. It's a multifandom set cause the ability to do that is one of the cool things about that comm. I like my rinharu set more than this one tbh but there are a few in this set that I'm proud of too. The theme names may seem a bit cryptic so check the challenge post for further info if you're curious about what we actually had to do here :)
The category set was about a 'dream world', some things picked from a fandom we'd like to actually experience. I chose My Neighbor Totoro, because I despise being a grownup/old as fuck (or at least too old for anything fun!) and my biggest wish is to get to relive my youth and be a carefree child and have childlike fun and excitement and there's all this and much more in the magical, mysterious, fairytale-like world of Totoro. The specific things I chose to include in my dream scenario: having fun & running around beautiful nature, investigating mysterious places and creatures, flying and being friends with Totoro :D
Anyway, hope you'll find something to like in this set, it was a really fun challenge to participate in and I'm glad the comm is back! Hover for fandom.

good god, i get busy with rl and when i come back there's so many new icons from you *_______* i should disappear more often, if these are the results i come back to! lemme just say i just finished voting for the sets @ 10in30 and i was soooo happy to see you made rinharu icons! but it was so damn difficult to just pick two, omg D:

starting with 1, i realllyyyyy love the colors of it omg! the way you've made rin's skin so nice and warm and pretty and also we get to see his qt little teef :B amd the second one, i love how rin's pink and haru's blue *duuh vel, so dumb*. the composition's really wonderful... and now that i'm actually moving onto the third one i'm just stumped because basically all of your compositions on the close crops are stunningly beautiful and like ...wtf is this sorcery? D: idek how you've managed to make anime CLOSE CROPS interesting and not just *face crops*, yano, no there's actual composition and words and colors and it's magical, definitely. i really love the text on 4, because it's so neatly spread over the icon and the way there's tiny lines over some of the text, like on the top, bottom left side and the right, because it makes me think of a cover of a magazine! so please, give me the rinharu magazine rn, because i would like to read it right now C: then the colors of the far ones, ohmygod! i absolutely LOOOOOVE the 1st one (technically 6 i mean), because it's purple and there's rinharu on the same bed and the colors over the icon are in such perfect combination with the rich purples and the pink pillows and ahhhh i'm so in love with it *____* the vibrance on 7 is perfect. it's like i'm staring into the sun and i can feel my skin clearing and my vision turning 20/20 and just everything gets better while i'm looking at that icon. 8 has an absolutely BRILLIANT composition and it's just such a *you* icon! because you always manage to make all kinds of unique and different compositions and i'm always so impressed how you manage to keep your icons so interesting in a mere 100x100 canvas?? that's fuckin' art, man, lemme tell you that. 9 looks like it's the cover of a fairy tale ~~disney movie or something. and i would gladly watch it if it were :D

then there's technique20in20, so congrats on completing it (unlike me lol) and producing even more beautiful icons! i love the blocking on levels and yaaay a star wars icon woo hoo! i'm totally in love with the colors and texture use on the cas icon. you really know how to win my heart with your purples ♥ i remember you called me somewhere an enabler lol? and probably you're right, because rn i'm going to compliment your magical colors of the swanqueen AND sam icons. and then the lydia icon after that, because not only is the crop gorgeous, but the gritty textures and the colors too. i feel dumb tbh, because i'm just here flailing all over the place and probably my comment is totally unreadable, but you have to be used to deciphering those by now lol :P i am actually CRYING at the beauty that is the haru icon with the waves and the water, because that icon is fucking genius. like, i know i said that for your other icons too, but this is legit, my favourite one from the entire post. and it's just because i love haru so much, no. it's because it's so out of the box and it works so gr9! i would really like to take a peek into your brain for some icon ideas, because you always seem to come up with such interesting ideas and not only that, you actually execute those ideas perfectly!!! tell me, how is that fair?!? :P i know i know, life isn't fair *sigh* i'm also happy to see you've iconed studio ghibli yaaay! the blocking on the 1st one is really neat, and i also really like the 3rd one because borders and the colors and composition of 4's perfect. again. then i have to compliment the colors on your gabriel icon and the texture use on the icon next to it, umm alison i think? yes, the flowers go so well with her clothes and it's really awesome.

i should say i'm sorry for the wall of text, but i'm not. i'm really not :P

my favorite enabler!!! :> and YESSS I'm so so happy that you seem to approve of the 10in30 set since it wouldn't have happened without your great advice to watch more Free!.

ngl, inverting the 'close crop = face crop?' problem was definitely one of my priorities when making that set, and it was kinda necessary too seeing how I had a ship claim so each icon needed to have both of them (i think) and finding 5 caps where they're close enough for a closecrop would have been a pain.
YES a rinharu magazine cover was definitely something I thought of too after making 4, it wasn't intentional but that thought kinda made me like it more, I was super unsure about the text at first but it's growing on me so I'm extra happy you liked the text on that one :> and yeah 8 is probably the most 'me' out of them so I'm super flattered to hear you think so highly of it ;__;

LOL glad you like the castiel icon, that's the one that was saved by your textures! It totally needed something and colorful grunge is one of my favorite 'somethings' to add to a lacking icon. Your texture was perfect :>

is like the highest compliment ever so thank youuu, that is what I often aim for and try to develop but I'm totally not 100% there yet, I have lots of ideas I can't get to look like they do in my head! the haru one was rather obvious tbh I mean haru + water is hardly a surprising combination xD but I'm super happy it works so well for you <3
