January icon dump: 44 multifandom icons

I've been super busy lately. It's getting a bit less hectic in a month or two though, so maybe I'll make more icons then. But for now, this is all I've made this year, which might be a good thing because hey a reasonably sized icon dump from me for once!

I have a new screen btw so if you notice a shift to some direction in my coloring, it might be a screen thing. This one really amps up the yellows while my previous screen made everything look red. So now the skin in many of my older icons looks yellow :s there's also something weird going on with brightness and saturation cause everything looks SUPER bright and saturated on my file explorer for example, but in photoshop or after uploading somewhere they look much more muted. I have no idea which screen is closer to whatever everyone else is using so that is a little worrying but ehh, can't really do anything about it.

Icons 1-14 are remakes for the bestof_icons 2014 remake activity! Click for the original icon. Unlike last year, this year I'm actually happy with most of the remakes.
15-24 were for a super difficult mmcbattle activity, where my team pixelheroes had to icon things that would start with each of the letters in our usernames, AND on top of that we had to draw inspiration from the amazing makers of another multimaker community, magicmachine. This is why most of this set doesn't really resemble my usual style at all, and is not something I'll continue with stylewise, but it was super fun to just try these things :)
Then , the rest of this icon dump is stuff I've made for watchnicon (continuing with my Lost rewatch as well as getting back to my DW rewatch!), plus two random Carmilla icons made for iconsomething.

most of the icons 15-24 were made in 2014 so they are not eligible for bestof_icons 2015 activities!

A little late to the comment party, my bad. But this post is so, so incredible! So I was bound to get here eventually! I couldn't let this one go without a few words about how much I freaking L O V E everything! :D

So I'll just start at the top and work my way down to my Carmilla feels at the bottom, okay? Awesome!

I have no idea what is going on in #1, honestly. I keep staring at it trying to figure it out, and all I got is some Lost guy's silhouette. BUT I DON'T CARE THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT, I JUST KNOW I LOVE IT. Mark of a good complex icon, tbh. The text is so, so incredible. And I love the shapes in the icon and how they overlap the silhouette, and I love the strange blend of black and white with these vibrant pastel colors. It's just such a strangely wonderful icon! And then #4 and #6 are absolute coloring magic, imo. I love the texture work as well. You should do a guide type thing on that one of these days because your texture use is so unique and interesting and I want to pick it apart. ALSO #9. ARE THOSE PONDS, I SEE???? *CRIES* Really though, I love love love the swirling, textured negative space that gives the illusion of a circular vortex. Super cool! And, of course, the text work is beyond flawless. So pretty! #11 is also really lovely, and I am digging this bright, vibrant coloring but without a lot of contrast. It's so interesting! As are the blue shadows as opposed to black shadows. It's changes the whole depth of the icon in such an unique way! And then #14 is amazing coloring wise, but I also love the blending of the two images; super creative!

AND YOU KNOW HOW EXCITED I WAS ABOUT THE SUITS ICONS. I wish the second one was anyone other than Mike because the coloring is super pretty! But also also also that Regina icon!!! The coloring is so intense and icy and amazing, and I LOVE how you've merged that quote (which you fit into the icon quite nicely and I love all the things about your text use here and I am so jealous that you managed to make that quote WORK in an icon because I could not for the life of me) with this sort of early, angry Regina as opposed to the Regina who heard the quote. It's such an interesting juxtaposition, and I love it! And then #24 is delightful coloring wise! I love the lime green and yellow touches! They really pop!

And then I love everything in the next section especially #28, 31, 33, 38, and 42. And you already know I am in LOVE with the Carmilla icons because I am and I want heaps more Carmilla icons from you, please and thank you forever and ever. <33 BUT THE TRUE SUPERSTAR OF THIS POST (FOR ME ANYWAY) IS #29, HOLY MOTHER OF ICONS. THIS IS LIKE. THE HOLY GRAIL OF ICONNING. WHAT EVEN. LOOK AT THAT FLAWLESS, CREATIVE ANIMATION. I JUST CANNOT WITH THIS ICON. THE CROP IS GREAT. THE COLORING IS GREAT. THE TEXT IS GREAT. AND THE MERGING OF IMAGES WITH TEXT VIA ANIMATION IS JUST BLOWING MY MIND RN. Such a great sci-fi-esque icon. It's just so, so, so stupendous. Probably my favorite icon I've seen so far this year. Probably won't get over it before 2016 shows up. Will probably nominate it in bestof 2015, warning you now. It is just THAT good.

I gotta love you for liking 1 despite not seeing what's in it, lol! I hope this helps: inside the silhouette, there are two b&w guys shaking hands. And as their background, there's a quote. IT IS KINDA MESSY BUT I LIKE IT SO MUCH SO I'M SUPER GLAD YOU DO TOO x) (ALSO: 'some Lost guy' = MY BELOVED BEN everyone who knows me should know ben and his lovely silhouette by now!).

CARMILLA. Yes. I wonder where I could icon more of it, cause I'd really love to! I'd like to either have them as a claim somewhere, possibly insp20in20, or just have a battle or something. But I already feel super guilty for not finishing my ouat battle so that tells me I shouldn't take on any challenges now and should just focus on watchnicon for a while. Idk...??

HAHAHA I'm so glad someone (and especially you) likes 29 that much, I was suuuuper excited about it when making it (it's from a brainwashing scene in this super psychedelic chamber and I was so inspired by that!), but then after posting it I took a look at the post and went 'whoa what is that mess, whydidipostit i hope nobody notices it'. xD I'm so glad you don't think it's terrible!! It really means a lot because you're my animation enabler and I used a lot of the tips you gave me a while ago so all the credit should go to you tbh. ♥
