I've been super busy lately. It's getting a bit less hectic in a month or two though, so maybe I'll make more icons then. But for now, this is all I've made this year, which might be a good thing because hey a reasonably sized icon dump from me for once!
I have a new screen btw so if you notice a shift to some direction in my coloring, it might be a screen thing. This one really amps up the yellows while my previous screen made everything look red. So now the skin in many of my older icons looks yellow :s there's also something weird going on with brightness and saturation cause everything looks SUPER bright and saturated on my file explorer for example, but in photoshop or after uploading somewhere they look much more muted. I have no idea which screen is closer to whatever everyone else is using so that is a little worrying but ehh, can't really do anything about it.

mmcbattle activity, where my team pixelheroes had to icon things that would start with each of the letters in our usernames, AND on top of that we had to draw inspiration from the amazing makers of another multimaker community, magicmachine. This is why most of this set doesn't really resemble my usual style at all, and is not something I'll continue with stylewise, but it was super fun to just try these things :)Then , the rest of this icon dump is stuff I've made for
watchnicon (continuing with my Lost rewatch as well as getting back to my DW rewatch!), plus two random Carmilla icons made for iconsomething.most of the icons 15-24 were made in 2014 so they are not eligible for bestof_icons 2015 activities!

did i tell you last year i finished lost? and got soooo hooked! dang that show is addictive. tbh i never really wanted to give it a go, because i knew there's so much of it and that i'd get super obsessed, and i already have enough obsessions as it is lol. anyway, i absolutely fell in love and ttly know why the fanbase is so *_____* about it. and it's so awesome, because there's so many diverse characters, i can't even worhviworvmsv.
ANYWAY. back to your gorgeous icons *rolls up sleeves* the composition of 1 is AMAZING. can we pls talk about how amazing it is? let's! i'm a big fan of complex stuff, and silhouette icons and omg you blended the images AND used text. is there anything this icon doesn't have? WOW. and the 3rd icon, *HEART EYES EMOJI* what a gr9 remake. and sawyer smoking and PURPLE. it just doesn't get any better than that tbh. 8 is also amazing, i love how the sepia colouring fits with the pink pastel background. 10 tho omg, the colouring of that is incredible. i love how different these all are, yet they have a 100% you factor to all of them. like after the vintage and pale colouring to 10, we have 11 which has incredible texture use and colours! and 14 is fabulous, i honestly don't know how you manage to make icons stand out with such vibrant colours without oversaturating them O: TEACH ME YOUR WAYS PLS.
both of thg icons are wonderful as well. and the composition of 16 wiurnhvisnvksmlsm!!!! i'm gonna go ahead and assume locke and ben are your favs? :D because you make the most creative and awesome icons with them. 26 is super awesome colouring wise, like pfff, give me all the colours and vibrance in the world *___* and the juliet one @ 30 is so bright and pretty. amazing lighting! 33 tho, wow. that one has to be my top #1 of this entire post. i love everything about it. what a great texture/text use, colouring and the whole ~feel of the icon is amazing. and CHARLIE ;A; and right under it 38 is super duper cool as well, it's so pastel-y and elegant. i can't believe how much you've improved in text like WOW shit. oo, and the last 2 have really wonderful colouring as well. i love how you can make their skin so pale pinkish. idk how you do it, selective colouring?? but it's AWESOME.
i wish i had your creativity, man, honestly D: i can't seem to make complex icons to save my life atm, so now that i've saved up so many beauties here for my inspo folder, hopefully it'll inspire me to make complex things too :D

OMG, YOU FINISHED LOST, AWESOME! ikr, I looove how many completely different characters there are! and the overall story was just super fascinating for me - I just wish I would have gotten into it way back when it was airing so I could have participated in the fandom when it was active.

Thank youuu this means so much to me because HELL YEAH those two creepy old dudes are my favorites and, i just get these ideas for them, maybe cause it's easy for me to remember their scenes and know what I want to icon about them next. Also with this subject I usually end up with icons I like too, because when I'm iconing them I'm iconing 100% for myself, i know nobody else needs shippy Bocke icons lol but I know I do so I just try to make them something that I'd actually like to use, as in, full of everything and ridiculous colors and stuff :D which in turn is why it's super extra flattering that you like those. THANKYOUSOMUCH ♥
and, I'm super glad you think I've made some text progress, it was my main goal last year. I really don't remember how bad I was at it the last time you were around, but it feels like it was super long ago so i must have been pretty awful xD
As for the coloring in the last two, I'm pretty sure it was gradient maps as always... all the gradient maps on soft light and maybe on normal too on these icons to get the mutedness. I wish I knew how to selective color!
aw, I really hope you'll get your complexity inspiration back! But, if not, I'd love to see your simple icons as well cause your coloring alone is definitely enough to make them extra brilliant and eye-catching. ♥

Love the more muted colors of the last few icons, those are fantastic! The last two 43 and 44 especially. The colors are stunning.
I'm trying to get back into icon making so I'm going to be trying new things too in the coming months. :)

I've made a few animated icons before but they've been very basic so this time I wanted to try a bit more. It's definitely something I'd like to learn this year.
Muted colors are not usually my thing, but the type of coloring I used for the last two is actually really fun to make and not as simple as it looks, so I'm glad to hear you liked them! :)

1 is my personal fave so it's wonderful to hear you liked it that much! as for 42, I tried playing with noise filters so I think that's where the grunge came from but I was afraid it would be too much, lol. I was super uncertain about that icon so it's wonderful to hear you liked it!

I love the composition of 1. Everything about it is gorgeous, from the colours to the perfect, perfect blend to the amazing text work. HOW DO YOU ACHIEVE THIS? Seriously. It's a stunning piece of art! And then let's talk about 7 because I've been awful in not replying to the original comment, but just, this is so freaking amazing. With the perfect colour combinations just subtly existing all together so perfectly? I really love how everything just seems to overlap in the right places, it's such a unique icon. And then we have 10, which just, wow. I mean, you do vibrant so perfectly, but then you do muted like this and it kills me. I love the softer tones, and the gorgeous contrast and gritty texture work. Seriously FAB.
Guh, and your rewatch icons are incredible. I'm particularly taken with 41, the composition there is all kinds of magical, and I absolutely adore the way you've played with colour, contrasting Rose from the boys! It's such a gorgeous icon. And 42 is seriously so incredible, the crop is freaking flawless (I mean seriously), but the texture work adds another layer of perfection, along with the absolutely beautiful text, which just draws everything together. Its so, so very stunning.

I'm thrilled that you like 1. I almost didn't even make it cause I liked the original and was pretty sure I couldn't top it, and the official deadline was already over. But then I decided to try anyway and now I'm glad I did!
7 was kinda cheating cause it doesn't have that much in common with the original (I tried using the same cap, and failed quite miserably), but I'm super happy you like it anyway :> I'm also happy and surprised that you like 41. I struggled with it a lot, as well as almost all of my recent rewatch icons, I don't even know why :s (ok, possibly because of my busy schedule, I tried to take an hour or two for icons every day, but I've still been stressed out and trying to icon as fast as possible).

So I'll just start at the top and work my way down to my Carmilla feels at the bottom, okay? Awesome!
I have no idea what is going on in #1, honestly. I keep staring at it trying to figure it out, and all I got is some Lost guy's silhouette. BUT I DON'T CARE THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT, I JUST KNOW I LOVE IT. Mark of a good complex icon, tbh. The text is so, so incredible. And I love the shapes in the icon and how they overlap the silhouette, and I love the strange blend of black and white with these vibrant pastel colors. It's just such a strangely wonderful icon! And then #4 and #6 are absolute coloring magic, imo. I love the texture work as well. You should do a guide type thing on that one of these days because your texture use is so unique and interesting and I want to pick it apart. ALSO #9. ARE THOSE PONDS, I SEE???? *CRIES* Really though, I love love love the swirling, textured negative space that gives the illusion of a circular vortex. Super cool! And, of course, the text work is beyond flawless. So pretty! #11 is also really lovely, and I am digging this bright, vibrant coloring but without a lot of contrast. It's so interesting! As are the blue shadows as opposed to black shadows. It's changes the whole depth of the icon in such an unique way! And then #14 is amazing coloring wise, but I also love the blending of the two images; super creative!
AND YOU KNOW HOW EXCITED I WAS ABOUT THE SUITS ICONS. I wish the second one was anyone other than Mike because the coloring is super pretty! But also also also that Regina icon!!! The coloring is so intense and icy and amazing, and I LOVE how you've merged that quote (which you fit into the icon quite nicely and I love all the things about your text use here and I am so jealous that you managed to make that quote WORK in an icon because I could not for the life of me) with this sort of early, angry Regina as opposed to the Regina who heard the quote. It's such an interesting juxtaposition, and I love it! And then #24 is delightful coloring wise! I love the lime green and yellow touches! They really pop!
And then I love everything in the next section especially #28, 31, 33, 38, and 42. And you already know I am in LOVE with the Carmilla icons because I am and I want heaps more Carmilla icons from you, please and thank you forever and ever. <33 BUT THE TRUE SUPERSTAR OF THIS POST (FOR ME ANYWAY) IS #29, HOLY MOTHER OF ICONS. THIS IS LIKE. THE HOLY GRAIL OF ICONNING. WHAT EVEN. LOOK AT THAT FLAWLESS, CREATIVE ANIMATION. I JUST CANNOT WITH THIS ICON. THE CROP IS GREAT. THE COLORING IS GREAT. THE TEXT IS GREAT. AND THE MERGING OF IMAGES WITH TEXT VIA ANIMATION IS JUST BLOWING MY MIND RN. Such a great sci-fi-esque icon. It's just so, so, so stupendous. Probably my favorite icon I've seen so far this year. Probably won't get over it before 2016 shows up. Will probably nominate it in bestof 2015, warning you now. It is just THAT good.

CARMILLA. Yes. I wonder where I could icon more of it, cause I'd really love to! I'd like to either have them as a claim somewhere, possibly insp20in20, or just have a battle or something. But I already feel super guilty for not finishing my ouat battle so that tells me I shouldn't take on any challenges now and should just focus on watchnicon for a while. Idk...??
HAHAHA I'm so glad someone (and especially you) likes 29 that much, I was suuuuper excited about it when making it (it's from a brainwashing scene in this super psychedelic chamber and I was so inspired by that!), but then after posting it I took a look at the post and went 'whoa what is that mess, whydidipostit i hope nobody notices it'. xD I'm so glad you don't think it's terrible!! It really means a lot because you're my animation enabler and I used a lot of the tips you gave me a while ago so all the credit should go to you tbh. ♥

Aw, Carmilla was all kinds of wonderful. I really want to icon it more, so it's awesome to hear there are people interested in Carmilla icons, since I haven't really seen any before so I wondered if anyone here has even seen the show.

1 is a crazy thing of beauty that only you could pull off tbh. I love it! I'm always on board for more Ben icon, but this one is fantastic. 7 is SO GOOD. That swirly painty brush/texture work is amazing, plus the pink/blue/yellow colouring, y e s. Then 8 is also so cool because a pink Tardis look is original and pretty, and I love the vintage candy look of this! 9 is so elegant, I love the extreme negative space, the text looks delicate and again the painty background is so pretty. Love the brush/texture work on 12 (Idk if painty stuff is a trend rn but I LOVE it and you're so great at it!) and the COLOURS on 14, damn! Stunning composition, too.
I think I already told you how much I like your mmcbattle icons and both Carmilla icons (!!!!!! so happy to see Carmilla icons, and your colouring is flawless) but let's state it again.
And then. These LOST icons. 28 is perfect in every way, lighting, crop, texture work colours, wow!! And 29 is breathtakingly creative and flawlessly executed, the sci-fi colouring, text work and animation, wow!!!! I'm amazed. 30 is another perfect Juliet icon, the colouring is magical. 32 has this perfect composition - love the blocking, and how Desmond is monochrome but Penny isn't! Then your DW icons are amazing too, and that's an even bigger achievement because I know how bad the caps are, haha. 38 is another perfect composition! 39 is so lovely, love the crop, text and classic look of it. You win so many points with 41 for using both the provided cap and my texture! I had so much trouble making an icon for that episode, and yours is gorgeous. Also all the love for 42, the crop, grainy look and text make for such an emotional icon.
