SPN for 20inspirations + icon dump = 89 multifandom icons

Let's start with

20inspirations! My claim was Supernatural season 1 which I have just finished watching and it was awesomeness.

But let me just say that this round didn't happen easily at. all. and I'm not at all confident about this set. I had a rambly whiny rant here about the reasons, but I'll just cut it all out because nobody wants to read that. I'll just let you make up your own mind about these and hope for the best :') I guess it's not really worse than any of my other sets, I think my expectations for myself just are so high that it's impossible to meet them :p one thing I know for sure - I NEED to learn how to say no to fun icon activities cause iconing while stressed and busy = not fun.

The idea of the round was Pass it on, meaning that each two consecutive icons had to have something in common. The themes I came up with + some other rambling can be found by hovering over the icon!

1. Pink&blue coloring. This one was the first I made and it's kind of a texture clusterfuck but those are the most fun to make tbh :D

2. Pink&blue coloring + profile. Last minute add. It's really bright and contrastless but when I tried to tone those qualities down it turned even worse. Also looked fugly in normal coloring. I guess this was just a bit of a rebel icon that just decided not to work no matter what I did.

3. Profile + neon monochrome. Monochrome alone would have been such a lazy theme cause I use it anyway all the time sooo here I took the excuse to intentionally make the weirdest, most electric freaking neon icon. I have a feeling you already regret taking a look at this set, haha :'D AND YES THERE'S A META COMPONENT TO THE TEXT HERE.

4. Neon monochrome + quote. Gotta admit I kinda like this one, at least more than dean's neon monochrome, but it's the sort of icon that nobody else will probably like and I totally get that ok :D

5. Quote + colored lighting. This is dedicated to thyla87 who requested that I make some shippy stuff for this set, I take no responsibility :P

6. Colored lighting + unusual camera angle. This one was the last I made, but actually one of my favorites. Which is no surprise since Meg is so much easier and more fun to color than the boys!

7. Unusual camera angle + muted. This doesn't even look like it was made by me but maybe that's a good thing, haha. I was going for a more muted and lighting-y look than usual. Don't have much to say about this icon, it's kinda meh for me except for the cap itself which I really like.

8. Muted + close crop. Also one of the first I made, I'm not crazy about it but the set needed some toned down icons to balance out all the weirdness!

9. Close crop + grunge. Obviously I was already running out of theme ideas. I mean come on, 'grunge'? It's not like I use grunge for half my stuff anyway. Ehh anyway, from some angles on my screen this icon looks ok and from others the shadows are way overwhelming so idk which way it'll look to anyone else but no time to change that now.

10. Grunge + angst. LOL I really didn't think I'd use a crappy theme like 'angst' but then I only noticed how emo that text was after the icon was finished so I figured WHY NOT :D

[06-10]

11. Angst + blocking. Heee I just HAD to make an icon of their little breakup scene in 'Scarecrow', the whole drama between them in that episode was one of the first things that made me really love SPN instead of just liking it. This is another last minute add icon so it's far too early for me to tell if I'll continue liking it but for now I think I sort of do? Maybe I just like blocking.

12. Blocking + silhouette. I like the texture overload, but the composition wasn't supposed to be quite that crowded, idk, it's still better than the other versions I have of it.

13. Silhouette + lime green. This icon was so fun and quick to make! Usually it takes me forever and ever to make a decent icon but this took like 5 minutes and I don't think it's bad at all. Maybe I should go for this type of vibrant, lighting-y stuff more often as opposed to the vintagey, grungy and composition-y things (which are the ones that take a lot of time for me)? Idk but I like this one at least.

14. Lime green + phone. I have a feeling that green isn't a very flattering color to use on someone's face, but I like the lighting and crop. Also omg I swear there's a cell phone in there, it just got lost in the lighting. Theme fail :p

15. Phone + simple. After making that Dean on the phone icon I knew I had to icon the other end of that conversation too, and I intentionally went for the opposite look of the Dean icon - matte versus shiny and magenta versus green.

[11-15]

16. Simple + vintage. I had a lot of fun coloring it even though this type of vintagey super-obvious recoloring isn't really how recoloring should be done haha. One day I'll learn to do it in a more natural way but meanwhile enjoy the cartoonish look? :D

17. Vintage + full body. Idk what to say about this one, it's nothing new really cause I use these sorts of colorings all the time, it's just one of those things that I really enjoy doing even if the results aren't anything super impressive.

18. Full body + retro. Er, let's just say retro and vintage are totally different themes so it's legit to use both like this ok? :D No really I personally associate 'retro' with a more poster-like bolder look and 'vintage' with a subtler look that has more to do with light coloring. Now that that's out of the way let me just say that I'm ridiculously proud of this icon, it's the first time I've ever half successfully managed to turn a regular screencap into a cartoonish image so YAY!

19. Retro + circle. This is the sort of icon I make all the time because I just love the retro style so much! Oh and there's something else I really love and that is John freaking Winchester. DON'T TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS TO HIM IN THE LATER SEASONS I PROBABLY DON'T EVEN WANT TO KNOW cause SPN sounds like a cruel enough show to actually kill an awesome character like him D: I never even see icons of him so that's my first clue that he won't be around much, but anyway I had to make at least one icon of him to fix that :3

20. Circle. This is one of my own favorites of these cause I'm clearly not good at natural colorings at all but here that's what i went for and it kinda works, I think. This probably looks like a really easy icon to make but I actually used some pretty damn weird methods that I'd like to experiment with more in the future maybe :D

Omg, so sorry about the obscene amount of icons in one post. I know it's way too much and I'll try to remember to make icon dumps more often to avoid this D: Anyway, I really hope there's something you'll find enjoyable here!

OMGWOW I can't believe you just wrote this much about a set I wasn't even all that happy with. Thank you so much, your positive feedback makes me feel a lot better about these :')

YES I DEFINITELY MAKE LOST ICONS NOW :D I haven't even finished rewatching the first season yet but I'm already crazy into it. It's so cool to have a shared fandom now! I almost made this comment at the pixelheroes friend meme but then I kinda failed the whole meme due to time issues sooo I'll just squee about it here. So awesome! and yep I'll try to balance out the character bias a bit in the future and try to include more Sawyer since I love him too, he's my second favorite right after Sayid.

I'm so glad 20 works for you! Ooh, I'm glad and surprised you liked 30, it was a reject from the 20insp batch, I kinda liked the lighting too but figured there were too many weird monochromes in it already.

31 was for a theme 'simple' so it kinda had to be minimal. (Besides, Sayid's so smoking hot that my gut instict to cover everything with textures and composition is overpowered by my instinct to keep as much of him as clear and visible as possible, so there's that too :D)
omg I'm shocked but flattered that you'd see some resemblance to the work of icon gods like deternot and longerthanwedo here, to me that sounds just absurd but I'll take that as a a massive compliment anyway ♥ ;__;

Oh wow, you like 50 that much?? Awesome! Confession: it was supposed to participate in the 'colorize' challenge at

theskilldrill, but then I saw how realistic and fantastic everyone elses icons for the challenge were and I just couldn't post my sorry attempt, haha. Coloring over bw images is difficult alright :'D but yeah it's freaking awesome to hear it works for you!

And all those 'other favorites' you list were among my own faves too so again really awesome to hear you like them :3

Can't wait for your icon dump!! Especially if there's Lost in it, hee.

There will be some Lost in there, actually! A minimal amount, but it's there. I'll try to make some more now that you've inspired me to rifle through the caps again. :D

Haha, I'm terrible at friending memes too. I can't help filling out a form when I see one, but then I get overwhelmed and too busy to fully focus on the meme so I only comment to one or two people and end up looking like a jerk who doesn't bother commenting to others. It's very unfortunate and I should stop it .___.

Omg I have??! That's beyond awesome :D I think LOST caps are awesome, a lot more colorful and lit and diverse than most of my (usually extra dark scifi) fandoms!
