33 Donna Noble icons

Well, I guess I have some Donna Noble (Doctor Who) icons for [livejournal.com profile] 20inspirations... This was a regular 20in20 round which was a really interesting twist, I haven't completed a regular 20in20 round in a while and had forgotten how difficult it can be trying to match the themes, haha!

er, ok, so this is another set finished at the last possible hour and I really really struggled with it, everything seemed really difficult and nothing looks like I planned. If it weren't for [livejournal.com profile] vampire_sessah and [livejournal.com profile] raiindust (and the fact that the more Donna icons are needed in the world) I would have probably given up with this set, so thanks a lot for the support :> ♥
The category set was the most difficult by far, I have no idea how to use crops that aren't center crops with negative space :p also idk why this set is so weird, I guess I just wanted to experiment a lot. But all that being said, I'm just so happy I actually finished this challenge! \o/

Anyway, hope you like some of these, comments would of course make my day, I'm really behind with my own commenting this round but I'll remedy that asap!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. THIS ABSOLUTELY NEEDED A REACTION GIF. WHAT IS THIS POST EVEN. HOW MUCH MAGIC DID YOU PUT INTO PHOTOSHOP TO DO THIS? I AM IN AWE. And ever so relieved because now I have multiple Donna icons that can be utilized in the future. So, basically I love (and will be saving) everything, because I am in awe of everything that is happening in this post. It's such a beautiful wonderful thing.

Blocking is all kinds of clever and fantastic. I'm always fascinated by icons with multiple geometric shapes happening because they never want to work for me, but this icon is all kinds of marvelous. The darker colour palette is positively divine, I love the continued purple tones that move throughout it, and the composition is so so brilliant. The multiple screencaps, the beautiful contrast between monochrome and colour, the follow through of the circles that link the smaller image to the larger ones - just, imma need to borrow some of your clever please! Stock, I am in love. Seriously love. What a beautiful scene you've created, and the soft, pastel colouring is bloody stunning. I really love the composition of the stock behind the screencap, and the actual cut-out of the screencap has been done so exceptionally, and the colouring just follows through everything so fantastically. Pastel has some stunning composition, and the crazy, zany texture work happening in Down the Rabbit Hole is magnificent. There is such a wonderful, extreme mixture of colour there, and the contrast between the text and the gritty texture is so brilliant. I can see where Minimalism came from and I have to say, this is such a gorgeous, gorgeous thing. The contrast between her hair and the darker colours with the background is absolutely, incredibly flawless.

I LOOOOOVE Vibrant, the continued bold colour palette is killing me with stunning. Yellow and blue in Border, be still my heart. Again, the composition here is truly fantastic, and I really love that you've chosen quite an interesting border because the texture adds just another fantastic element to the icon. Faceless, well - I LOVE this. I think what I appreciate the most is the colour palette you've chosen, and managed to tame quite beautifully. The shades of purple and yellow and orange kind of take over the image without overwhelming it, and it looks like she's in another time and place. I am seriously amazed by how beautifully the colours work together. Retro is all kinds of stunning though - this time because you've managed to make this beautifully flawless icon with such PERFECT text. Firstly, LOVE the colours that contrast so beautifully, and I ADORE how you've kept the palette working through the whole icon. The blocking and texture work with the arrows creates such a definite blocked feel to the icon, and the way you've got the text running through it all so perfectly is just magnificent. And I love the papered texture feel as well. It's just gorgeous. The chiaroscuro, what I realllllly like here is how she's been pushed slightly more off-center than usual, so there is slightly more almost black space. I think this kind of crop helps the strong contrast in the colouring (which is so beautiful and rich) and emphasises the shadows so wonderfully.

The category set is so magnificent. I love, LOVE the sepia colouring in #11. The sharpening is absolute perfection as well, and the subtle lighting along with the texture work is truly beautiful. #12 is one of those brave crops that actually works wonderfully here - I think because you've got such a fantastic movement from light to shadow, and the orange tints of her hair are beautifully emphasised. #13 is probably my favourite of this section, I LOVE the colours of this an awful lot. I think there is such a gorgeous, gorgeous contrast between the pastel, pale tones of her skin to the cyan/blue of the necklace (that is beautifully picked up in the background) and the red of her hair. And then the black of jacket contrasts against everything, and there is some awesome, awesome texture work happening that just, sets the tone for the icon. #14 has such a beautiful, intense colouring, and the texture work is off the charts awesome sauce, and #15 has some GORGEOUS vibrant tones happening (YELLOW!), and the blocking has been wonderfully used as well.

Annnnnd the AC set is magical as well. There is such a beautiful composition theme happening that makes me so jealous because how does something like that even happen? SERIOUSLY. The colouring in #16 is so incredible, I love how you've played with shades of everything, and the texture and text in this are all so amazingly placed. #17, GREEEEEEN. I think you should work with this colour more - especially the beautiful vibrant kind. Green looks fantastic on you! I love the composition here, the blocking is great and the texture work again is wonderful. #18, BRILLIANT. A++++++. STUNNING. Gorgeous, gorgeous monochromatic colouring here, the blending is so well done, and the text is flawlessly placed. #19 is just, mind-blown. The colours in that icon are so damn gorgeous, and the blocking and texture work just look so fantastic together. It's just, a wonderful example of when a lot happens in an icon and the elements all come together so fantastically. And finally, #20. This is probably my favourite icon of the post, because it's so damn unique and interesting to consider. Like - I love the contrast between the space and the images - and the subtle lighting in the corner is stunning. And the colouring itself - the gradient movement that combines orange and blue tones in such a different way between the foreground and background is wooing me. I AM BEING WOOED BY THIS ICON. IDK. There is just something about it that is so captivating.

Finally - I also really love #24, the colouring there is truly gorgeous, and the texture work in #27 is killing me with wonder. The purple colouring is remarkable and I looooooove the like and shadow work.

SO BASICALLY, THANK YOU FOR THIS. And I apologise for needing to flail about everything; I just have an obscene amount of love for this post.

OMG JESS, THESE COMMENTS ARE TOO MUCH AWESOME ;___; ♥ How do I even deserve this??? I'm such a commenting failure myself, you should just ignore me and my posts because of that, haha.

I'm just so freaking relieved that you seem to like this post cause you were evil enough to say that thing about needing a Donna icon, so I was really worried about letting you down with a post full of fugly. Just thank you so so much, I'm super happy you found so much to like about these, and you definitely make me feel more confident about some that I was really not too sure of. I especially love that you like the last ac so much, cause it was one of the weirder things to happen in this set, and I wasn't sure if I should love it or hate it, haha. The same with the third category icon. I wanted a sort of retro or cartoonish look but wasn't sure if it was maybe a but too much, I have this tendency to take concepts too far but not see it until after I've posted it :D

Also I'm glad you like Stock so much too but I must admit I can't take too much credit for the composition as the background texture was already just like that. That's a seriously lazy icon, haha, all I needed to do was make the cutout and match the coloring :D And yep, Minimalism was definitely inspired by the tutorial you linked me to, and I wasn't all that happy with my result but vampire_sessah convinved me to post it :p soo I'm really glad you think it works!

I'd love to work more with green! I love green, especially bright lime. Now I'm actually wondering why I don't use it more often, you'd think caps with green would be easy to find. Might have something to do with the fact that my shows don't have enough outdoor scenes. Or maybe just that I automatically go for pink or yellow or cyan when in need of a color for a background or monochrome or something. I'll need to keep this in mind though!

I'm also super happy you approve of #24, it was 100% inspired by your colorings (though not nearly as awesome as them). It was my first try at the Vibrant theme and also one of those times when I tried to make the actual background of a cap work. I liked some things about it, but had to leave it out of the main set because I couldn't make the damn sharpening work, it's seriously hideous o.O

Why would you apologize for being flawless though??? Comments like this just make me so glad I finished the set despite all the struggle I had with it, sooo again, thanks so much for contributing to that :> ♥
