prefer just focusing on the looong drawn out part of chemistry before anything actually happens, and that's why I prefer things to stay noncanon - it's like the ship is stuck in my favorite part of the relationbship forever :)

Haha, this. Sloooooow burn is my favorite way of a ship getting together, and it so rarely happens with canon ships... When showrunners see chemistry between characters, or get a positive reaction from fans, often the get together process gets rushed for ratings :/
Plus personally, I just prefer to have the ship non-canon because it opens up the possibility of a character having chemistry with another one later, and multi-shipping has always been my thing :D (not to mention, fanfics are always better for non-canon ships since writers are less restrained by canon events.... and I so love me some fanfiction)
