Stylewise I feel like this is a 'back to my roots' set, I've been exploring different styles so much lately (especially last month with the b&w set) that I felt like it was time for a classic js set, but with a starry twist to fit the theme better :D Hope you like some of these! There are 5 multifandom extras included, cause I started working on a multifandom entry until I got super inspired by Stardust and decided it might be weird to have 5 misc icons and 15 Stardust.

I knew your set for this round would be beyong amazing but WOW. Every single one of these is so good! My absolute favourite has to be 13 because the background and colouring are insanely good and I hate that this isn't one of my fandoms because I would upload it right now. I love your use of 'space' textures, especially on 1, 3, 8, 9, 15, 16 and 19.
8 is so eye-catching, the contrast and lighting and text, everything works. And can we talk about the hair painting on this set?! It is so good! 7 is mesmerising.
The text arrangements are brilliant, especially on 4 and 6. The composition on 14 is so delightfully complex, I never watched Stardust but I have a feeling this icon captures the spirit of the film.
And now I want to watch it!I like 20 a lot, the crop for the background image is perfect, and she is striking in front of it with those vibrant colours - plus great text use there too!I LOVE THE ALTERNATES. 23 is just out of this world with the colours, flawless hair painting and fairy tale lighting and the Regina icon is simply excellent - that composition idea and those colours, wow!
Fantastic job, as usual! ♥

Omg I'm so happy you like 13! It took a ridiculous amount of work for such a relatively simple icon. Also I'm happy and surprised you like the hair painting, I don't make many icons with painting because I'm just not super good at it (I always feel like if I paint on a bigger canvas and size down, the painted strokes become too thin and sharp, but if I do the painting in 100x100px, the results are too blurry and not detailed enough...).

LOL omg actually 14 probably has the least to do with the film. I was banking on nobody recognizing that that text really has nothing to do with the film, it's more of a personal thing related to the backstory of some of my old OCs (which actually is part of why I responded to this film so strongly - because the story reminded me so much of something I had developed in my head as a teenager, it felt like watching characters I alrerady love rather than some random characters). So that one is a weird icon with its own story, so I'm super happy you liked the composition so much! :D
I don't know if you'd like the movie, it might be too saccharine for you, but then again if you didn't mind OUAT that might not be the case! tbh I only watched it because I was into Ben Barnes at the time, but then he turned out to be only at the starting scenes, so good thing that I found something else to enjoy in it :D
Thanks so much again, you're seriously the best!! I feel like next month I might do 10in30 instead of monthly, which means I could possibly sneak in a set for an EPIC BATTLE. Now we just need to figure out how we're actually going to do it...

HAHA well forget I said anything, or let's just say your storytelling skills are so good that I totally bought it ;)

The monthlyinspo challenge is epic and the inspiration post is magnificent but it also scares me, haha. I know myself, I'll spend so much time deciding how many classes to use, which ones, and how to interpret them that I won't get anything done. 10in30 sounds good because I've wanted to do a close/far and/or vibrant/pale set for a while!
But battle, yes! Do you have any ideas? Should we randomise themes and techniques? I'm open to any battle 'mode' you like, minus a 100% screencap battle perhaps, those are not my favourite.
Let me know, and we can set a pretty loose deadline maybe? I was thinking maybe a month or so, so
I can remake my icons 50 timesit doesn't get stressful or anything :)no subject

Yeah, I think the given caps work the best for big battle with lost of makers with really different styles so it's cool to see how the same cap can become so many different things. But for us I think technical or other types of themes would work the best, so random themes sound perfect. I wish there was a massive list of possible themes somewhere that we could just easily randomize from, but I guess we have to write our own! I really liked the way we used to do those DW icons with raiindust for watchnicon, iirc some of them had given caps, some had a provided texture and some had a provided font? Or maybe it was cap / theme / texture or font? But we could have most of them as themes, with a few provided resource themes mixed in.
//ETA and yes loose deadline of a month or so definitely sounds like the way to go for both of us xD

How indeed? I didn't think of those awesome combinations! Minimalistic/extra complex sounds great tbh. I need to think of what would be most challenging!

Great idea! Our watchnicon 'themes' were: themes (interpretive), techniques, fonts, textures, palettes and screencaps. If we make 12 icons for the battle, we can make two for each category, if you like! Or just cap/theme/texture/font if you prefer, and make 4 little sets of three icons? Let me know, but I love the idea of connecting this to our old rewatches, in a way :)
