Here's my set for Round 4 at monthlyinspo! The theme was flowers. I did a 50/50 set this time, only half use the theme. Icons 1-10 are for the theme, the rest are ACs. Hover for fandom.
Not the most creative set I've made, I've been less into icons lately but I'm pretty happy with these. Hope you'll find something to like! ♥

I keep trying to get a handle on your coloring (e.g. in 20 and 27), but I still can't do it. I know how, in theory, but never really manage. You are so perfect at it.

I especially love the flower compositions in 1 and 2, 5 and 7.

Love 25, 26, and 30, and 34 is great, too.

I'm glad to hear you like the flower compositions - I really ran out of ideas after like three icons, lol, so I just repeated the three ideas and made as many ACs as possible :p

Nah don't worry about the coloring thing, you're doing just fine and I think it's great that your way of coloring doesn't look exactly like mine (or anyone else's for that matter). Original takes on any given style just makes them more interesting! Sometimes I wish I could use my go-to styles in new and exciting ways, to come up with a new angle to them, but I'm just too set in my ways and that kind of experimenting would take a lot of time.

Thank you so much for saying that! I have kind of found my own style, haven't I? *G*

I don't try to copy other people's styles completely, it's just a way of getting out of my set ways and do something differently, to expand my repertoire. The only way I know how to do this is take other people's icons and try and achieve the same look until I understand how they did it. I hope that's okay.

Oh I've certainly learned a lot from others, people write tutorials so that others can learn from them :) I definitely recommend reading tutorials from all kinds of makers with very different styles - my goal was always to learn tips and tricks from everyone and then see if I could blend those techniques and tricks with my own in some sort of original way. But the cool thing is that like you said, you already have your own original style, I mean people guess you so often at anonymous activites (and often correctly) so that's definitely something to be proud, there's something very recognizable there :)
