So first, my set for the 4th round at

20muses! The randomizer gave me Parks and Recreation season 5 for a subject, but lbr most of these aren't very season-specific (still from s5 caps tho). I love Parks and Rec, so this was a lot of fun!
For this challenge we were prompted to make simple icons. I wanted to make this set somewhat cohesive, so out of all the lovely techniques presented in the inspiration post, I chose to focus only on one thing: coloring. Vibrant coloring, to be specific, but the last row got a bit more pastelly :>
I don't think this is the best set from me, I think these are a bit... basic even for simple icons, but I made these really fast so this is the extent of my creativity atm :p Despite of that I think I did an alright job bringing my style into these even without some of my usual elements (text and complex compositions).

I'm amazed how you come up with these colors, when I try this in photoshop I always end up scraping them (I made something very similar to your #13 here and ended up deleting it, I don't know why I always absolutely love when other people use bright, bold colors but I hate it when I do it, lmao).

Your entire 20muses set is gorgeous, I really love the coloring and the lighting is stunning! I saved all the ones from your the7days set, I forgot to comment when I saw them but these are just really amazing and I wholeheartedly approve of the Braca/Scorpius one! :D

aw I'm sure your icon would have been gorgeous and that you can rock bold colors better than you think you can! but at the same time yeah I hear you cause I have a similar relationship with muted colors... I definitely envy makers who can make them eye-catching!

I don't think anything you make can be basic, lol. You're one of my favorite icon makers and you have all the things I love in your icons, there's color and text and textures and they're just amazing all around. If you did nothing but color the character and put it in center crop/negative space, I'd still think it was perfect. So yeah, these were just amazing, once again! :D
I actually thought a bit about it and decided to go and do that icon I was talking about anyway. Now that I've posted it, it looks kinda okay, but totally different while I was making it, lmao. I have no idea why it's like that. :P

Scorpius indeed <3 and yesss please do make FS icons! I wish I could icon it more often but the cap situation is unfortunate o.O I used to use them all the time but now that I've been spoiled by all the HQ caps for newer shows, it's like... how did I ever manage to use these lol
YAY I'm glad you decided to continue that icon! It's weird how things sometimes look different when they're posted. Maybe it's the background? I totally changed my PS default background from the usual grey to white so it would look the same as it will in these posts. But still I've noticed that sometimes how I see an icon depends on the lighting in my room, if it's morning or night and what angle I'm looking at my screen at... it's frustrating! not to mention that all the icons look more saturated in my file explorer and when I open them in PS they're way more muted.

Yeah, I would love to do it more often but working with those caps is a pain. I mean, I'm greatful they even exist, I'd about cry if they were no more, lol. And there are a ton of shows I'd love to icon but the caps are really lq and grainy, and then it takes me more time to fix it then it does to make an icon, haha. Like, I want to icon Stargate a lot, and I just saw that some caps are better than before, but like Atlantis has blu ray caps and it's like a miracle and then there's SG1. And if I do manage to come across more quality caps, there are no galleries, only download links. Which is like, thanks but no thanks.

I tried doing it to white but switched back to grey because I just couldn't work like that, I don't know why. Oh yes, totally! Depending on the time of the day and how I postion my laptop, icons look totally different. And it's always weird how it's never the same. Like, sometimes they looks really vibrant in photoshop but muted in my folders and then the next time, they look muted in photoshop but really bright in my folders. I have no idea, lol.

Also, I'm honestly just curious how icons look to different people. I would honestly make 'print your screen' thread or something so I can see it, haha. You know when someone will say that the icon looks really blurry or sharp, saturated or washed out, but to you it looks normal? Recently my cousin bought a new laptop so I decided to check it out and then he asked me to see my recent icons and graphics, and I was all 'aaaah my eyes'. Like, everything on his laptop looks super bright and shiny, I couldn't do absolutely anything working like that. Sorry, this was random, lmao.

Haha yesss don't even mention SG1, those caps were completely unusuable at least when I tried my hand at them last time (it was a few years ago though so maybe there are better ones now...?).

Print your screen thread wouldn't work because you'd still be viewing other people's print screens through your monitor so even that image would look different to everyone o.O screens are so complicated! When I switched screens about a year ago I guess the new screen shows things a bit differently cause all my older icons look too muted and darkish to me now, so maybe my older screen gave them more vibrance automatically. But at the same time I know that anyone with a similar screen to my old one would see my current stuff as oversaturated and too bright. Argh! :s I just try not to think about it...
