As you probably know by now, the idea is that the we icon random characters, and then people can vote which 3 (or more in case of ties) characters move onto the next set. The rest will be re-randomized. Thanks for the votes we got last time, we expected much fewer of them since it was right at the time of Christmas/holidays! Hopefully some people are still interested in voting even though there have been quite a few of these posts already and it's getting harder and harder to beat the current top character list :)

The poll
Which characters would you like to see in the next set? You can vote for as many as you like, but only 3 will move on (unless there are ties). The voting will last for 3 days, it is open until friday 15.1. 21:00 UTC. Please note that you're voting for characters, NOT icons, so you're just voting for characters you like, and not characters whose icons you liked the most!
[Poll #2033419]
Episode discussion
We also watched one episode of each of the shows these characters are from; if anyone is interested in our opinions or discussing the episodes/shows, you can read our thoughts behind the spoiler cut, and tell us your own thoughts in the comments - we'd love to discuss these fandoms :) This was just a bit of extra fun though, and we didn't have to icon that specific episode. tinnny didn't participate in this so it's just thyla's thoughts and mine.
Teen Wolf
js (5.04 Condition Terminal): This episode moved the plot forward a lot, it was a bit better than episodes 2-3 on this season but still had some of the same problems, e.g. we got new characters again. I did like the characters visiting a gay bar, but that part was kind of ruined by Hayden working there. The best part of the episode was when Kira went a bit crazy and almost killed the chimera. Stiles is starting to annoy me lately. I much prefer characters like Scott, Lydia, Malia and Liam.
js (5.05 A Novel Approach): This might have been the best episode of 5a, it was very intense and atmospheric. I loved the start when the episode focused intensely on Stiles' reaction to accidentally killing Donovan. The visit to the eye guy at Eichen House was mostly a good scene as well, I loved the dramatic scenes between Scott and kira, especially when Scott carries her out of the building. But it was a huge disappointment to see that Peter no longer is the eye guy's cellmate, what a wasted opportunity to show my favorite character :( there could have even been Pydia interaction, but I did love that Lydia instantly recognized Peter's quote. Another annoying thing about the episode was Kira and Scott's dumb gossipping about Stydia. It felt very OOC. But overall it was a strong episode and focused nicely on the main cast for once.
thyla (5.11): It was really nice that season 5 started again. I liked the action and the fact that Stiles’ father was saved! It was sad to see Stiles and Scott’s relationship is still so bad, I really hope that they will fix that in some point. Lydia scenes were very good. I didn’t like the fact that Liam and Scott fought before but it was nice too that Liam feels at least a little guilty. Mason is a really nice and funny character! And I like Liam and Mason’s relationship. This wasn’t my favorite episode but there were a lot of things I also liked.
Fringe
js (1.06 The Cure): The episode had a great plot. Olivia especially got to shine in this episode, some interesting aspects of her past were revealed and then there was the best scene of the episode where Olivia speaks her mind to Broyles who had criticized her of being too emotional. I also loved it when Peter went to make a deal with Nina behind Olivia's back. There was also a theory presented that all of these people as test subjects cases could be connected; this possibility raised my interest, it would be cool if there was some sort of bigger connection at play, because this far I feel like I've only gotten some fragmented glimpses of the overall plot, and I'd love to see the bigger picture!
thyla (1.02 The Same Old Story): Fringe has been quite interesting and I like the characters. I really like Walter, he is so funny :D It was funny that Walter eats popcorn at the same time when Peter tries to revive the woman :p Their father-son relationship is very interesting. At the end of the episode they seemed to get a little closer. The episode continued nicely from the last episode, exploring Olivia’s feelings for agent Scott and their previous cases. Fringe has seemed quite promising.
Daredevil
js (1.02 Cut Man): This was better than the first episode, the atmosphere was pretty intense. However I'm not sure I like the fact that it was pretty dark and moody from start to finish. But there were some fascinating scenes. I particularly liked the scenes between Foggy and Karen, the way Karen's fear was depicted was quite gripping. Matt had some good scenes too, I liked the interrogation scenes on the roof where his character started seeming a bit more ominous. Daredevil is still not going into my 'to watch' list, but watching this episode wasn't too bad.
thyla (1.02 Cut Man): I have to admit that I am not very interested in this show. This second episode was better than the last one. The show just feels a bit basic; the fighting against criminals and the side characters haven’t raised my interest much yet. I like the fact that the main character is blind. The series seems a little dark which I also like. So, there are also good things and you never know how much I might like it if the show continues to move on in this project.
Once Upon a Time
js (2.08 Into the Deep): The second season is well in progress by now, the plot moved forward a lot. I love how all the characters have their own agendas and priorities and how that makes even the protagonists turn against each other sometimes, like Emma and Snow against Mulan here. The episode had lots of good individual scenes, like Regina and Rumple at the restaurant and Snow and Charming in the fire room. Their reunion was pretty touching even though I'm not super invested in that relationship. I loved Hook's trick when he took Aurora's heart; I wish Hook would still be a villain like here! Too bad that this ep didn't have any Emma/Regina interaction, that always makes an episode much better for me. I love Cora as a villain, it would be nice to see her again on 5b.
thyla (3.06 Ariel): On the first season I liked Rumple and his evilness. It’s surprising to see that he’s trying to be good. At least that’s the impression I got. But I have to say I preferred him when he was evil ;D It was nice to see Ariel, and Regina playing Ursula. And it was an interesting twist on the fairytale that Ariel didn’t get prince Eric at the end of the episode.
Doctor Who
js (2.10 Love and Monsters): This is a weird episode with not much of the Doctor himself. I quite like the guest star cast, but the overall execution of the plot and the weird mood dissonance especially had some problems. I mean, most of the characters faced a really tragic end here yet the story was told in an oddly lighthearted way?? I however liked the scenes where the gang studied the Doctor. Those scenes captured some of the early series mystery around the Doctor's character. I loved the look into Jackie's thoughts and character, her scenes were very good here. So the episode did have a lot of positive things and I liked how the episode represents those smaller individual stories that have been mostly abandoned after Moffat took over. But overall it wasn't one of the best DW episodes, or even among the best of the season.
thyla (2.00 The Christmas Invasion): I wanted to go back to the first episode with the 10th Doctor :D This Doctor is my favorite! It was sad to see him regenerate but I’ve also liked other Doctors. I really like the show; its mood, actors and the british accents :D haha! I also like Rose a lot and her mother is wonderfully funny :D I also love the TARDIS!
Game of Thrones
js: I've watched a few seasons of GoT but found it too gross and violent to watch so I didn't force myself to continue it for that reason.
thyla: I didn't watch
Neon Genesis Evangelion
js (1.01 Angel Attack): A friend had recced me this anime before, he's a gigantic nerd so I knew this was gonna be scifi and geeky af and it was pretty much exactly as I thought it would be :D A few years ago I probably would have loved the idea of epic scifi battles and giant robots and stuff but I'm way over that phase now so this didn't really catch my interest. Based on the pilot it seemed very plot-centric and the mc felt like a generic 'insert yourself' guy and everything else seemed quite tropey and generic for this genre too (but then again this anime might have been part of creating/popularizing some of those robot battle tropes, from what I hear it's a classic!) I do love Pacific Rim tbh and I'm sure this is one of the things that inspired that movie, so I guess Neon Genesis Evangelion has a lot of merits too!
thyla (1.01 Angel Attack): I've watched a few anime episodes now and I gotta say this wasn't the best one. I didn't quite understand the episode and the characters didn't seem interesting. I was so confused that i actually thought I was watching a second or third episode but I rechecked and it was the first one :D LOL! What I gathered from it was that there was an attack and a boy was the only one who could control some machine... I'm not gonna watch more of this unless it moves on of course.
Suits
js (1.03 Inside Track): Suits seems like a good show, I enjoy the hectic business vibe of the law firm and how the show focuses on the character's at their jobs. Harvey and Mike are both great characters, I especially like Harvey because he's such a manipulative bastard and these two have a really fun relationship, their exchanges were among the best parts of the episode. I also like how everyone inside the firm has their own interests and how they do all kinds of plotting to reach their personal goals, which caused a lot of cool twists in this episode too. It was a very entertaining episode.
thyla (1.01 Pilot): I have watch this show before but some reason I dropped the show. I’m not sure why, because I quite liked the series and watched the first two seasons pretty fast. I wanted to go back to the first episode instead of starting the third season, but perhaps I might start it now :) I liked the law firm theme, and the characters! I love how arrogant and confident Harvey is :D I found the way Mike joined the law firm interesting and the way their friendship slowly warmed up.
The Avengers/Captain America
js (The Avengers): I've meant to watch this movie for a long time, I thought it might be good, and it was! Very entertaining and colorful, it was fun to see such a big bunch of characters working together. This concept worked much better for me than the MCU movies focusing on individual characters, because this way there were more interesting interaction opportunities between different characters. For example, I found the relationship between Loki and Thor interesting, and the bickering between Steve and Tony was fun to watch too (and I much preferred Steve in general in this movie than in Captain America for some reason). Out of the new characters (for me) I liked Natasha and Loki the most but everyone had something interesting about them. And the plot itself was nicely chaotic and the movie was full of great dialogue. This and Guardians of the Galaxy have definitely been the best MCU I've seen this far :)
thyla (Captain America): I didn’t watch because it was too long for me, but I have seen this before.
Feel free to snag any you like but please credit the correct maker. If someone wants to copy this idea for their own character voting project, we don't mind at all. If you would like to join our project instead, there's still room for more as long as you're easy to contact, have time for this, let me do the randomizing and are fine with iconing any fandoms and characters :>

thyla87: The Rumple icon is possibly my favorite, I really like the muted contrast and color palette, plus the composition is ace; love the block arrangement and the fuzzy block lines that give the icon a nicely grunge look. I really dig the complex yet minimal composition on Scott, it looks so clean and the wolf fits so nicely. The Ikari Shinji icon is pretty WOW, I love how vibrant it is, and the differently colored lighting from both sides just makes it pop really well! Finally, the Steve icon is spectacular - imo this type of muted/vintage coloring + far crop + grunge is one of your biggest strengths stylewise, I'd love to see more icons like this. The grunge use is perfect in this icon, adds a great amount of grittiness to the right places :)
tinnny: first of all thanks again for joining us, it was definitely great to have a guest star to make this set a bit different! My favorite is Matt, love the full body + replaced bg crop and the bw subject on a vibrant colorful background look. The cloudy texture is a great choice for the bg, I like how it directs the attention to the subject. The alt is great too btw, I wouldn't have known how to pick between them! I also love the entire look on Stiles, my favorite thing about it is the unique combination of muted and vibrant colors, and the texture use is great too. Rumple has stunning contrast and coloring + is super fun and creative with the gold tooth thing :> Sansa's icon is lovely too, it looks like there's a story behind it, with the text and the blurred subject in the background.
Great sets!! :)

The alt is great too btw
I was a bit sad to let the alt go - it was my original attempt. And then I hit on that color explosion texture and knew that this was it. It completely hid the complicated text work and the fight pattern I made in the background, but still looked better. //)
the texture use is great too
I love grunge and paint textures, and I'm still working my way towards using them well. I'm happy it worked here - it's my favorite icon from the set, just barely ahead of the Sansa icon.
Rumple has stunning contrast and coloring + is super fun and creative
Thank you! I found that the ones where I knew nothing about the characters were easiest to make. I was fascinated with his weird skin color and skin texture, so I tried to bring that out. I still have huge trouble with dark icons, because of my screen being too dark, but I won't give up. (You will see what I mean when I have finally gotten my turbo-rumble review post done...)
I don't think I could make many icons of things I know nothing about, but the first one is always surprisingly easy.
Sansa's icon is lovely too, it looks like there's a story behind it, with the text and the blurred subject in the background.
There is. This icon - especially the text on it - fought me for the longest time. I think it took me two hours to make until I had settled on the perfect line and background texture.
Sansa was not one of my favorite characters on GOT at first, and this certainly isn't her proudest moment. She gets easier to identify with later, but at this point, she's still mostly a spoiled would-be-princess. She is forced to marry Tyrion ("the dwarf"), and she hates him so much she refuses to kneel at the wedding, embarrassing him in front of... the whole kingdom basically. I love Tyrion, and he has had the hardest life, he's always made fun of (by other people, not by the author of the novels). But he's a good person by GOT standards, and he never meant Sansa any harm, and this really hurt him. He also didn't want to marry her, btw.
Sorry, I could ramble on about those two. I really like them.
