I'm mostly really happy with the remakes and think the majority of them are better than the originals, so yay I may have actually improved during 2012! \o/

This Rose set I'm not that happy with though :| I like most of the ones I made first, but then I ran out of time again despite not signing up for anything else this month (but then again I spent a lot of time with the nominating at bestof_icons and making that damn progress post and I may have gotten a bit sidetracked by the7days too, so not that surprising after all) soooo I kinda dislike a lot of these as well. But then again I've noticed that I'm a horrible judge of my own icons, so who knows :p

Also, this is yet another set where I can't choose between simple and complex and muted and vibrant so yeah who else is surprised.
I had two reasons to pick Rose: 1) she's FULL OF WIN and more importantly 2) she's a cutie and the perfect subject to color, srsly, more tv characters should wear candy colors like she does :D and yes I totally used a Farscape quote on one of them, lol.

Ugh man, I held off on commenting on all your remake icons when I saw them being made because I knew this time would come. And I am so glad because they are so utterly amazing. For reals and seriously, they are all kinds of magic. #1 is still spectacular, the composition is to die for, and the colours are perfection. The same goes for #4/#5, which has the most gorgeous, pop art feel to it, with some amazing composition. The lighting of #7-#9 is flawless as well, it's so interesting to see how you play with light textures (vs. grunge textures), because it gives your icons such a great, soft, gentle look. AND #12 is my second favourite (after #13 of course) because holy composition, and colours, and vibrancy, and everything together just works so wonderfully together. The composition of #14 is ALSO flawless, seriously. And your text work here is utterly gorgeous as well. And the colours, the gentle tones of blue that are hinted in there are utter perfection. And the lighting of #16 and #18 is stunning as well. Seriously. That whole set of icons is so impressive!

And then Rose, man. I think my favourite thing about the set is where you can't choose between muted and vibrant and where they sometimes collide and create perfection. There are so many visually pleasing things happening here, I can't even. Enemy is all kinds of magic, the background is flawless, and I love the text work, and the colours are gorgeous. And Gold, holy flawless crop, and the colours are soooooo beautiful. I love the monochrome, and how your amazing use of light and shadows still give it perfect contrast. Hot is again, a compositional dream. The texture work is A+, and I love the dark vibrancy and the colours, so amazing. Light & Dark has lovely, amazing shadows going on for it, and the absolute softness and vibrancy of Neon is all kinds of beautiful. And I think Unusual Crop is so so awesome. Such a great crop indeed.

The vibrancy of the Category set is just, gorgeous. And I love how you played with negative space, and still did some gorgeous crops (Like #5) and some absolutely beautiful compositions (#5). The colour combos here are my absolute favourite though. Pink & yellow, and yellow and cyan are my favourites and you used them so gorgeously here! And AC 1, 3 & 5 are stunnnnnning compositions. Like woah. I love how (seemingly) easily you play with your blocking, everything always looks so beautiful and brilliant.

Oh wow, how is it possible for you and your comments to be so awesome and encouraging and perfect all the time? *___* I'm so glad you like the remake icons so much, it was such an interesting challenge while also serving as the perfect excuse to try to improve some badly executed stuff.

Oh, wow, it's always a bit weird when people compliment my lighting because quite honestly I have no idea what I'm even doing with it! I kinda suck at light sources and stuff, like in almost all these icons it looks like light is coming from all sorts of directions instread of just one, haha. And I didn't notice any of this while making them. But then again I trust your judgment so if you say you like it, I guess I'm happy with it!

Oh and I love that you picked pretty much all of my favorites in the Rose icons, especially in the themes section which I actually had time to spend on. Still, glad you found positive things in the more quickly made category and ac sets too! Blocking isn't all that easy to me though, I mean it's not impossibly hard like blending or text, but it's an afterthought much more often than I'd like - tbqh half of my blocking icons only have blocking cause the coloring has fucked up the image quality beyond any other salvage than more resizing .__.
