Oh I know that feeling, I always compare myself to the very best at something and then feel all inferior, lol. But YES to this: We can both continue sharpening our text skills this year, and then hopefully, we'll both sound more positive when the next progression post comes up! :D
I just have to get over my fear of taking risks with text. It's weird how safe I always play it with text considering how crazy I go with composition and colors and texture use sometimes. I think it's because text was told to be one of my weaknesses when I applied to a_mused, so I've been trying not to draw too much attention to it by trying anything super special with text? idk. But I'd like to, and I'm glad you like the text on this Master screwdriver icon cause it's the one where I like my text best too :>

There's never been one negative thing said about you as far as I've seen. You show up mostly in "link me to icons for inspiration" posts or when people ask who's improved tremendously this year. Both of those are GREAT contexts in which to be namedropped!
...really warms my heart ♥ :O I would have thought there would be more talk about how overappreciated I am and how overdone/overtextured/worse than the shinier/paler/whatever ones I made before my icons are. But then again I shouldn't worry about these things anyway, if I'm going to do things the way I like to :)
