30 Doctor Who icons

This is my set for the 39th round of character20n20. My claim was Ten and if there ever was a hurried last minute set then this is it. Like honestly I have my hands full with uni work and everything so I seriously considered dropping this challenge but then I decided to try anyway. These things considered I'm quite proud of this set. I decided to go for a more toned-down color scheme and a grungier texture-heavy look this time, I guess because I thought it would fit the side of Ten I wanted to highlight (as much as I like goofy!Ten, angsty!emo!Ten is my favorite thing ever :p ♥).

I hope the more quiet coloring doesn't make these boring, but in case you like my more vibrant stuff better, I've also included my first set for rainbow_elite where I also claimed Doctor Who (I know, ORLY? :p). That comm is worth checking out anyway if you're into colors :)

I've seen some pretty awesome stuff on my flist lately and I can't wait to have time to browse and comment on it all. It should get a bit less hectic soon, and I guess I'll need to take a bit fewer iconing challenges per month to keep myself sane. (I SWEAR I ALREADY TRIED THAT, WHAT HAPPENED? :O)

Anyway comments would be almost as awesome as Ten's big brown puppy eyes! Or actually even more awesome. ♥

You seem to be trying new things with regards to composition like what you did with Brave and Hands (I especially like these two, btw). I also really love Silver, Soft, the Cat set ( holy pie, Cat 2 is perfect). Your AC set is just fabulous. Spot-on lighting, as always!

Your compositions, holy wow! Everything is gorgeous though, but I think you're carving yourself such a beautifully understated, muted, compositional style here. #3 has such a stunning, stunning style going on. I love the intensity of the colours, but the sepia tones that are also muted that keep everything a little softer. And the text and composition is beautiful. I love the texture work in #5 as well, the mixture of blues and browns is so incredibly gorgeous, and again the composition is stunning. The lighting and contrast of #9 and #10 is so beautiful, I can't even. So incredibly gorgeous. And the entire category of cropping is magnificent. The AC #1 has gorgeous, gorgeous lighting, and AC #3 and AC #5 are compositional dreams as well. The text is working so beautifully here, and I love the monochrome style as well. #7 and #8 in your rainbow-elite set are so flipping spectacular though. The pinks are so vibrant, and I love the composition of #7 and the lighting of #8. Magical stuff!

I love the coloring on Blur, I've never seen that scene other than super saturated, the coloring really gives it a different feel.
The composition on Brave, Hands, and No Eyes... guh! so stunning.
Soft is so... soft. It fits the theme perfectly!
Both your cat and ac sets are so pretty! I love cat#4 and ac#1.

Both your colorful and muted icons are great (5, 7 and 8 for the colorful icons are gorgeous), but I think I especially love your muted icons here! The compositions are fantabulous. I have a bunch of favorites but I particularly love Hands, Negative Space (probably my favorite of this entire post), AC2, AC3 and AC5.

Okay, right off the bat, can I just say that all that practice you've been doing with text had really paid off because that aspect of your icons in this batch is stunning. Standing out in particular is brave, no eyes and negative space. Also the grunginess of your character20in20 set is really, really eye-catching and I love how your rainbow_elite set is the complete opposite - vibrant and so, so full of colour.

Your compositions with this batch are also impressive. The way the text blocks out the Doctor's face in No Eyes adds to the sombre, slightly melancholy tone set by the text itself and makes for a really powerful overall effect. Also in Angry, I love how the cap your chose for the Doctor is not full out rage but a more subtle equally unmistakable emotion that really says a lot about his seemingly never ending rivalry with the Daleks.

Concrit wise, on my monitor parts of the Doctor's face in AC3 is looking just a little LQ. I'm not sure if you textures cover those part of the icon or not and it's likely not as bad on other monitors (I think mine is a bit brighter than most). That being said AC3 is another example of excellent composition from you and the text is, again, spot on :)

Gah, Ten and all the sexy Tennant! These are stunning, really. The sharpness on the Category icons is perfect, I love the lighting on AC1 and AC4, and I also really, really like 'Hands', 'Negative Space' and the bold lighting on 'Silver' and 'Soft. ♥

#5 and #8 of the rainbow_elite icons: Omg the vibrance is flawless, I love it!

HOLY SHIT. You've grown so much since even your last post. How the hell do you do that?! You've totally nailed that vibrant coloring for your rainbow-elite set that I've been aiming for since 2010 or so. Dude, your blues and purples are so dense and rich! I'm jealous!!!!!!!!! I especially love how Rose's blonde hair is so unbelievably lush and bright amongst the laser blue backgrounds in the 4th and 5th rainbow-elite icons! Your muted coloring is also startlingly awesome. Close Crop 1 is insanely gorgeous from coloring to lighting to the intimate crop itself. Such gorgeous contrast in his skin! I could say the very same for AC1 except that the crop is obviously wide, not close. NEGATIVE SPACE IS BRILLIANT!!!!!!!! THE BLUE AND THE BORDERS AND HIS SILHOUETTE AND THE TINY CIRCLE WITH THE TEXT IN IT. MAGICAL!!!!! hands is just plain adorable, and I loooove the combo of purple and cream/peach. There's a striking balance between the light and dark in that icon, and the image choices are great as well! Soft is phenomenal. The lighting and shine around the subject make him look heavenly! And I die for the shadow falling over the left side of his face. PERFECTION. I think the one that hits me hardest right now though is AC5 cuz the text is 100% flawless and superb and immaculate. I'm loving all the glow and grunge simultaneously going on in this post, Tommi! <3333333

May I ask what grungy/smoky texture you used in AC5? That piece just has me so captivated, quite honestly.
