14 OUAT icons

Fandoms:
Once Upon a Time [14]

Yay, first time posting an icon post directly to DW! \o/ Let's see how this goes.

Here's my entry for the 16th round of [community profile] somein30. I went with Hard Mode and made one icon for each track on an album. The album I selected was "Enchant" by Emilie Autumn, which I chose because it's amazing, and the lyrics are interesting enough to inspire me (a lot of the kind of dark romance that I absolutely love). In hindsight I should have picked an easier album, these songs have very specific stories that just don't really fit any existing characters so in the end I decided to to just wing it a bit and pick only a part of the lyrics, use them in the icons, and be done with it. Do all of these make sense as meaningful text in the icons? Not really, but for once I gave myself the permission to use text just for decoration. I hope it doesn't show in the icons, but I had no interest for iconmaking this month, I'm kinda already living in the summer and all the RL activities I wanna get to, so this set had to be forced and idk. I'm happy with the end result but not with how much time and effort it took.

As for subjects, I used Once Upon a Time for all of these. Nobody cares about this old fandom anymore but I just don't watch anything remotely contemporary, and the ~magical vibe of the album made me pick a show with a similar vibe.

Anyway, hope somebody will like these! Feel free to use any, and let me know what you think <3

EMILIE AUTUMN: ENCHANT
Songs + my (questionable) inspirations
1. Prologue: Across the Sky - This is such a cool song that I had no idea what to do with. I picked the easiest part of the lyrics, "light lives in the darkness", cause the light and dark dicussion is so ingrained in the Rumbelle relationship.
2. How Strange - This song is about not wanting to change and daring someone to love them despite that. This very much reminded me of Rumple who kinda bounces all over the good/evil spectrum and there are some points where he just wants to have the relationship but not change for it.
3. Chambermaid - Well, I had to use Belle for this one too since she was indeed a chambermaid so it makes sense for her to say she's not one anymore; this icon represents her breaking up with Rumple, so maybe it fits.
4. Rapunzel - Haha, VERY literal, I just used the actual character of Rapunzel on the show. She has a very minor role (only in one episode) but I just couldn't not, and I didn't get any inspirations for other characters anyway.
5. Ever - This is about unrequited love, so for once there was a good case to use a non-canon ship; I made a SQ icon because I really love this ship, especially as an angsty one-sided crush (from either side).
6. Second Hand Faith - I think this song is about not having faith but wanting to use someone else's to find answers. A lot of talk about destiny and fortune, so I went with the theme of Emma not necessarily wanting to be the savior, but she can't really escape it.
7. Juliet - I LOVE this song but again found it super super difficult to draw inspiration from so I just went extremely literal and just used a balcony screencap :D
8. Remember - An icon of the scene when Mary Margaret and David remember being together as Snow and Charming.
9. Rose Red - A rose is such a classic motif for Belle, so why not
10. Castle Down - Another super literal one just based on the title/a part of the lyrics, an icon of Snow and Charming fearing that the Evil Queen will attack their castle.
11. Heard It All - I picked the lyrics "it's too late to change now" for Rumple cause it sounds a lot like him, but would have been fitting for many other characters as well.
12. If You Feel Better - I see this song as being about someone who's decided not to care if others see her as evil, so I went with the Evil Queen here.
13. Save You - This song is super interesting, it's about someone who knows she's bad for another person and wonders how she can save them from herself. Not an exact match by any means but this most reminded me of Ingrid (in the past) when she wants to hide herself and take away her powers to protect her family.
14. Epilogue: What If - This is my favorite song from the album. It's about someone with a complex identity full of contradictions that others can't quite understand. I picked a lot of lyrics for this and iconed Emma in Neverland where she's struggling with her past and identity, but this theme is present in many other parts of her arc as well (coming to terms with her powers and being the savior).
